Data Sonification of Active Cases and Mortality rate across all states and union territories in India since Covid's inception till March 2022. The video is Covid-19 data mapped to create visual structure and cohesive arrangements analyzing state by state with respective population arcs. The interactivity is based on using OSC (Open Sound Control) that connects devices under a local network, matching ports. By controlling OSC sliders, parameters of sound waves can be manipulated such as basic audio effects (reverb, delay), keeping the data intact. The core of this project emphasizes the experimentation with processing code and sound synthesis using simple datasets.
Featured in the Museum of Contemporary Digital Arts (MoCDA) Summer Show 2022
The dataset was downloaded from a source online and loaded into the processing code. Mapped the cases and deaths code data to the frequency and amplitude of Sin Oscillator and Tri Oscillator respectively. Color-coded each state in rainbow order. The date and State name were in bold white color as the date passes by for each state.
